Here is one of the finest Cap Gun (and Western
Memorabilia) collections on the planet. It's hard to get it all, for it is so
vast. Plus, if that isn't enough for you, then Charles has also built his own
cabinets and displays too. If that isn't enough, then he even has his own
luxury Bed and Breakfast just outside of Fredericksburg, Texas (read: Enchanted
Rock) where he displays all of this. He advertises it as the world's largest
Cap Gun collection and I would never doubt it.
If you want your Cap Gun collection featured,
then please send your photos to:
You can find his place
if you would like to visit there at:
http://www.troisestate.net, but I
recommend booking way in advance, for it is quite popular. Oh, by the way...I
asked him and he pronounces his name, "TROYSSSSSS" that would rhyme with
Joyce.
Here is the
other side of the previous room photo showing that there are two stand-type
displays like the one I showed you that had the Nichols Cap Guns in it. One of
the beauties of this entire collection is that since it is part of the
advertising of the B & B, it is TAX DEDUCTIBLE! Glory Be!!! Look at the
legs of those display cases. They are SUBSTANTIAL! My dad did a lot of
woodworking and I really appreciate fine workmanship and Charles has it in
spades!
YOU CAN CLICK ON MANY OF THESE FOR A
LARGER PHOTO!
Correct me
if I'm wrong, but I just bet that many of these showcases Charles didn't build,
for they look like antiques themselveswhich makes them even more
valuable. (read: expensive for the rest of us!) Gives the whole place a feel of
The Old West. Well, Fredericksburg (his area) is a ways North-Northwest of
Austin, which is the Texas Hill Country. Beautiful places! Lots of deer. And it
also happens to be a major tourist town, as it was the home of Admiral Chester
Nimitz, one of the heroes of World War II (Pacific Theater) and there is a big
(nice!!!) museum there, dedicated to him and all of those others to whom we owe
our freedom. I've been there many times and you should go, for it is a
memorable experience. Plenty to see and the German stores around the
neighborhood have plenty to sell.
As I hinted awhile ago, there is more to see than just Cap Guns.
There is a whole Western Memorabilia Museum! And do you see all of those old
toy steam engines? And rifles and on and on.
More artifacts from days
gone by. That Bowie knife reminds me of what Crocodile Dundee said, "That's not
a knife, this is a KNIFE!"
By this time Steve probably has a blister on his shutter finger.
You ought to send him an e-mail thanking him for his contribution, for he had
to fly from California to Texas just to take these photos. And I didn't even
give him gas money! But the Cap Gun Fraternity is really a great bunch of
people, and you too will find out should you "enlist." Be sure to see Steve's
collection on this website and remember that he is also buying quality Cap Guns
as hard as he can. Great investment! The flash
must have been too strong for that mannikin's eyes. You just don't see stuff
like this for sale every day! David Denton sells this sort of stuff at The
Antique Cowboy though. See: The Antique Cowboy's
Website.
Ahhhh! Mexican Banditos!!!
Well, we gained our independence from Mexico on April 21st, 1836 and then we
went and fouled it up by joining the Union in 1845. Well, not really!!! But
some have recently suggested that we are going to have to change our state's
name to "Mexas." Oh, here I go again. I'll probably get lots of e-mail on that
one, but I warned you before that political correctness is not likely to be
found on this website. But I'll make up for that remark by eating another few
tons of Tex-Mex food, for Texas has the best in the world. I guess with the
name "Tex-Mex" it is the only in the world. But we have THOUSANDS of Mexican
Food Restaurants here in Texas and nearly all of them are successful. I
frequent them about 4 times a week myself and you can tell by looking at me. I
do love queso!!! Join me sometime and we will go to the nearest El Chico's and
really pig out.
