PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF ROY ROGERS CAP GUNS, MADE BY A LOT OF COMPANIES THAT ARE SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THIS WEBSITE ON OTHER PAGES!
Roy Rogers! The King of the Cowboys! I hope that his estate considers that as complimentary and is not an actual tradename! However, it is true for most of us. This man epitomized the glorious Western Life. He was our hero! We adored just about everything about Leonard Frank Sly (his real name).

Along with his wife, the DARLING Dale Evans and his sidekick, Pat Brady, we were glued to our TV sets every Saturday to find out if Roy was going to be successful against the Bad Guys again. Did you notice that there wasn't any real "killing" on these TV shows??? And there was a definite difference between Right and Wrong? I think that is what is ruining our current society. Shows now have to have blood spattered all over the screen in order to make it "real." The Long Ranger shot the gun out of the Bad Guy's hand. Well, we all know that is actually impractical, but the message was that law and order didn't require killing necessarily and fights were with fists, not always guns.

And Roy was a GENTLEMAN!!! And a good singer with his Sons of the Pioneers.

Roy and Dale also were the real thing in their private lives. Just ask all of the kids that they adopted! You just won't find a better role model for a hero. At least to me.

So, send in photos of Roy Rogers and his horse/s and anything connected with him and especially the Cap Guns that were dedicated to him.

It would seem that if I am going to put some nice photos of Roy and Trigger on the first page of this section, then this page deserves some too. This photo was old and faded, but I worked it over in Photoshop for awhile so that you might enjoy it. If you ever want the original .tif photo, just email me and I might just send it to you. It seems to be in the public domain. Don't try to use the ones on this site, as they are only 96 dpi. But the .tif file is 300 dpi.

Roy Rogers Box from Canada!
In Chuck's words, "It is a Roy Classy as shown on this unused box. I had seen one MOC, but not MIB. Classy Products is not noted on the box. The manufacturer of the box is Title Products Limited, 380 Craig Street West, Montreal, Canada. I would be interested to know if any of our collector friends know anything about it or if they might have this or another version of a Classy Products capgun box."

This is about as rare as you can possibly get. And expensive! A sales display set of Roy Rogers Cap Guns by Classy!

Though this Cap Gun looks like it's made of plastic, it isn't really. Chuck says that this toy is made by Brentoy of Australia.

How's this for a wonderful set. Complete with documentation! No skimping here! I hate to even think what a set like this costs. But that doesn't mean that I would want to have one. It works by pivoting the part of the holster that holds the Cap Gun. When you pivot it, then that part comes out of the metal clasp and there is a metal pivot under the trigger area that swivels. Presto! You have killed the bad guy and become the envy on your block. I never owned a set as nice as this.

Thanks to Chuck Quinn

Here's a Cap Gun that is the same as its counterpart, the basic Hubley Cowboy, but is dedicated to Roy Rogers. Click on photo to see close-up.

Here's a couple of Tuck-A-Way sets. It claims to be the smallest cap firing pistol in the world. And the suggestions on where to put it! (a sign of those times!) "Wear it with your tie clip. Wear it on hat band. Wear it on any belt. Wear it on ankle. Wear it on wrist." These days it might say, "Wear it on your nose ring." But those were different days, when real men...well, real men were like Roy Rogers. These were made by Classy. The back side is below. From the Chuck Quinn collection.

These are basically the same style as the Tuck-A-Way Cap Guns. You will notice that the Cap Gun on the right has Roy's name in script on the barrel. Now if you will click on the above photo, you will see the larger photo. But here's what I don't understand. The fine print says, "ROY ROGERS PLEDGE TO PARENTS. Dale and I are proud of every product that bears our name, and we use these items for our own children. You pay no premium for our name. Rather, it is your assurance of authenticity and quality." Now I'm quite sure that Classy (and anybody else) had to license the Roy Rogers name, so if that isn't a premium, then what is? I must be missing something because I know Roy and Dale were honest, but probably Classy could have worded it slightly differently. From the Chuck Quinn collection.

Another style of Shootin' Irons by Classy. Notice that the one on the left has the short barrel and the one on the right has the longer barrel. MOC (Mint On Card) From the Chuck Quinn collection.

Classy Roy Rogers All Metal Cap Gun
This is a rather plain (by Classy standards) rendition of a Roy Rogers Cap Gun. Small too.

Photos thanks to John Coatney!

This is the R-50 version of a small Roy Rogers Classy Cap Gun.

Schmidt Roy Rogers Double Holster Set
Though I still think that this set of Cap Guns looks like the Classy Roy Rogers Cap Guns, the giveaway is the hammer. The Classy guns have a more sophisticated hammer.

PROOF that it was sold! In real U.S. stores! $8.85 was real money before the American people started demanding that their Congress start handing out welfare checks and other types of entitlements. America didn't even have an income tax at one time. I wonder how we ever survived?

Roy Rogers Holster Set from the Roy Rogers
Museum In Victorville California
Roy Rogers Holster set came from the Roy Rogers Museum In Victorville, California. Set includes a Cap Gun, Holster, Sheriff's badge and a bandanna!

This is probably one of the few married couples that I think were as good as their dog Bullet thought they were. Nice Set.

Roy Rogers Double Sets
w/ Gold Hubley Cowboys The "King of the Cowboys" had quite a few companies manufacturing Cap Guns for him. So it is only natural that companies would also make entire sets of Cap Guns and Holsters for him too.

Presented here we have some really fine examples of Roy Rogers sets featuring different brands of guns for your pleasure.

from 1950-1960 left side
Here is a Leslie Henry Roy Rogers Cap Gun.
This one is gold plated and is not a smoker.
Here is the same gun (in this case TWO!), but these are the chrome plated versions.
Thanks to David Denton.

If you're going to tote your shootin' irons, then you had
probably better put on your official Deputy's Badge.

These were made back in 1957 to dress up your collar of your shirt.

Leslie-Henry Forty Niner
Here is a super Leslie-Henry Roy Rogers 49er Cap Gun. This one is from the 1950-1955 era and as we can see, comes with an excellent blue box. You will notice that this box is sealed in plastic for protection. It is probably filled with foam also, to hold its shape. Good idea!

Thanks to David Denton.

Here is the same gun (MINT!!!) in gold from David also.

Here's a complete set with a bunch of extras, like spurs and spur straps.
Thanks to David Denton.

Roy Rogers by George Schmidt
Here is a Cap Gun from the 1950-1960 era.

This one has the long-ribbed barrel and a fully-engraved frame. The grips say, "And Trigger."

Many thanks to Doug Hamilton for these photos.

Here's another "Shoot'n Iron" box that would have come with this particular version of the Cap Gun. You will notice that it says, "Manufactured by George Schmidt Manufacturing, Inc. • Los Angeles, California."

Special thanks to Allan Coyle for this contribution!

This Shoot'N Iron banner lets you know who's backing the George Schmidt Cap Guns.

Thanks to Mike Merryman!

Dale Evans Outfit in the Original Box
This outfit consists of skirt, shirt, clicker gun and holster. The skirt is heavy corduroy in 4 colors. It has a cardboard and leather holster. The cardboard backing is white and the pocket is black. Comes with a generic black clicker gun. The box is Dale Evans original from Yankiboy

Photos thanks to Dave Klahn

Classy/Lone Star Dale Evans Mail Order Set
This is one of the rarest sets you will ever see! Jim Schleyer, in Backyard Buckaroos, says that it was sold primarily by mail order catalogs. But it has a Classy double holster and Lone Star Apache Cap Guns.
All photos thanks to Scott McCollum, one of our advertisers.

Here's a really nice set from our friend Ed Manes of the Queen of the West. Whoever came up with the logo of the "DE" was pretty smart, but then it might have been Dale herself, as she did write their theme song, Happy Trails.

As I have said before on other pages, Dale Evans stuff is HOT STUFF and one of the best investments you can find. Chuck has a bunch, of course. Here is a Shoot'n Iron and box that is DEAD MINT.

From the Chuck Quinn collection.

Here are a couple of Dale Evans spur sets, and a badge.

From the Chuck Quinn collection.

Here's a nice grouping of Dale Evans Cap Guns. On top we see a Schmidt Shoot'n Iron (smaller one) with the larger variety on the left. On the right we have (first) the gold plated Buzz Henry and then a nickel plated Buzz Henry.

From the Chuck Quinn collection.

As previously stated, anything "Dale" is going to be valuable.

From David Denton.

Roy Rogers by George Schmidt (Dummy Version)
Right Side Here is a Cap Gun from the 1950-1960 era, but the dummy version. The dummy version is one that WOULDN'T fire caps!

All you have to do is to take a look at the hammer on thie "Cap Gun" and you will notice that it is different from others. This one is in MINT shape!

Many thanks to David Denton.

Kilgore Roy Rogers Shooting Iron w/ Box
Here's a very nice MINT "SHOOTIN' IRON" Cap Gun by Kilgore that is still in the box. One like this is extremely valuable. It has a revolving cylinder and nice engraving. Notice Trigger on the grips.

These photos thanks to Ted Dietrich.

This Classy Roy set has the address of Classy Products and shows that it was manufactured before Zip Codes! Unusual set.

Thanks to Granddad's Toy Box.

Yeah, it's not a Cap Gun, but I like it enough to stick it here. It's a rubber band powered gun for those who think a rubber band in the eye at close range is safer than a Cap Gun's caps. There are people dumb enough that the manufacturers had to make some "Dummy" guns (for dummies) for some states. As the old saying goes, "A gun has only TWO enemies...RUST and POLITICIANS."

How in the world did he keep his clothes so clean?

These photos thanks to Sharon and Toby O'Brien.
