Kilgore made not only die-cast Cap Guns, but LOTS
of cast-iron Cap Guns. Well, Kilgore was such a prolific company, and so many
of you have sent in more photos and text of various Kilgore Cap Guns and
products, that we have a lot of pages. Keep sending them in!

Here's a nice
Wyatt Earp by Kilgore that you don't see very often.
Thanks to Dave
Klahn of The Ten Gallon Hat.
Here is a nice Kilgore
Big Horn with the black grips. It seems like 99% of what I see are the red
grips. This one is dead mint
Thanks to Chuck Quinn!
And this one is a blued Big
Horn! Mighty nice. I didn't know it came in blue.
Thanks to Ed
Manes.
Here's another one with slightly different grips, but still the
blued versionfor comparison's sake.
Thanks to Jim Manning.
Trust me. You will never
see another Big Horn any better than this example. It is completely flawless.
Click on its photo to see it even bigger.

And here's the
box to the above Big Horn by Kilgore. Photo thanks to Ed

This is a blued model Kilgore Big Horn, but
the "Dummy" version, which means it does NOT fire caps. Note the smooth
grips. Photo by Steve Arlin.
Here is the 1st model of the
Big Horn Cap Gun with revolving cylinder by Kilgore. As opposed to the ones
above, this one is die-cast.
This photo donated by Audrey McBride.
Thanks!
And
here's the 1st model AND the associated box.

Well, I got some MORE nice

Again, this is
the 1st model of the series and this one is in absolutely MINT
condition.
This Cap Gun shoots disc caps and has a lanyard ring on the
bottom of the grip.
All photos thanks to Doug Hamilton!
I hope that you folks will remember that you too
can have your favorite Cap Guns on this website. Send the photos in, preferably

Here is this same Cap Gun,
but with a greenish-turquoise grip. I'm not sure if this is from the factory or
whether or not the customer painted it. But I would love for you to tell
me.

Kilgore Big Horn
Cap Gun - 2nd Model In Gold
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Here is the Big Horn in the 2nd
version (die-cast) and gold plated. Doug doesn't know whether the gold plating
was done at the factory (authentic) or done by a "civilian" (fraud) but one
thing is that this is one nice looking Cap Gun.
This Cap Gun
shoots disc caps and DOES NOT have a lanyard ring on the bottom of the
grip.

Here are 2 cast-iron Kilgore beauties
that I couldn't resist from bringing in from Chuck Quinn's collection. An
exquisite 1st model LONG Tom in polished nickel w/revolving cylinder and rare
polished nickel BIG HORN. The stag grips on the BIG HORN are beautiful
chocolate-brown swirl color.
Here's a photo of a Big Horn up close on the right side that
has Roy Roger's signature. It is rather hard to see, similar to the Long Tom of
the same concept.
These photos are from Chuck Quinn's collection.
What a great way to start out a photo
discussion of the Long Toms. Here we have 17 Long Toms and 9 boxes and all in
essentially pristine condition. Amazing, huh? Most people are quite happy to
just have one of these magnificent Cap Guns!
These photos are by Belinda Quan from Chuck
Quinn's collection.
Here's a fantastic MINT
example of a Kilgore Long Tom with a sensational box. Thanks to David
Denton.

This is one of those Cap Guns that will set you
back a LONG WAYS when you even think of trying to buy it. The famous Long Tom
with the Roy Rogers signature that is engraved on the side. And the engraving
is so faint that it gives you another reason to faint when you see the
price. |
|
|
|
|
|
Here, if you pay close attention, you can barely
make out the engraving that was done at the factory. Really...Roy didn't sign
each and every gun. He probably would have, had he known how valuable these
would some day be! |

Well, you
can just assume that ALL Long Toms are expensive and this example is no
different. This one is a Long Tom with Roy Rogers on the grips. This particular
Cap Gun is MINT. The layout for this group of panels is a little different, but
I had to squeeze them in somehow!

At
first glance, this one looks the same as the one below, but it's a slightly
different variation as far as the box goes. The printing on the box is "wider"
in that it doesn't have the same stripes in the corners and the name of the
company is in a different spot. Also it doesn't have the insert. My guess is
that this gun began to really do well and Kilgore simply upgraded it a little.
As Chuck Quinn says about Kilgore, they made their best guns before World War
II. The Cap Gun here is MINT UNFIRED. Very Rare.
Thanks to David
Denton.
Here's a terrific
box and Roy Rogers. You won't see very many of these.
Photos thanks to
Scott McCollum
Here's an
oddity. It's the same box as above, but when the printers made it, they forgot
to print the red color. Sort of like coins that have been double-struck or have
some weird oddity, these unusual examples are probably only valuable to those
who "appreciate" their value. The rest of us would probably prefer a box that
was correct. So it's really hard to put a value on these examples.
Thanks to Chuck
Quinn
